Fort Lee, Virginia.Applications are now open for the Military Children Scholarship Program for the academic year 2022-2023.

The programme, now entering its 22nd year, recognizes the contribution of military families to combat force readiness and celebrates the commissioner’s role in improving the quality of military life. It is managed by the Fisher House Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping service members, veterans, and their families. To date, the program has awarded more than $21 million to 12,312 students, selected from nearly 109,000 applicants.

“For the 22nd consecutive year, the commissioners are honored to be part of a program that provides children of service members with this valuable financial boost to their higher education goals,” said the marine sergeant. Funding for the program comes from delegated business partners and other contributions to the Fisher House Foundation specifically designated for scholarship programs.

The qualifications for selection are straightforward. Requirements include completing an application; Submit an official student transcript indicating a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale for high school applicants, or an undergraduate transcript indicating a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale for students already enrolled in college; A 500 word essay. Eligibility for the program is determined using the Defense Eligibility Reporting System database. Applicants must ensure that they, in addition to their sponsor, are registered with the DEERS database and have a current approved military ID. The applicant must also plan to attend or already be enrolled in an accredited college or university, full-time, in the fall of 2022 or enroll in a program of studies designed to transfer directly to a four-year programme.

Applicants who have been awarded a full scholarship to attend a college or university or obtain an appointment at a service academies or affiliated middle schools are not eligible to receive funds from this program. A full scholarship is usually defined as a scholarship that covers tuition, books, lab fees, and other expenses.

For the 2022-23 academic year, the Fisher House Foundation will award 500 scholarships of $2,000 each. The selection process will begin immediately after the February 17 application deadline, 11:59 PM PT.
