The Center has extended the application deadline for various central government scholarship programs, from school to graduate levels, for outstanding students until January 15.
Applications, for all Post-School and Merit Central Sector and First Degree plans, can be submitted through the scholarships.gov.in website which contains detailed information on eligibility, required documents and the monthly stipend provided by the Government.
A notice of melody also stated that candidates may contact the Help Desk to resolve technical issues related to scholarships at 0120 – 6619540.
Scholarships are offered under several categories such as the Pre-School Scholarship Scheme for minority students of grades 1-10 who are enrolled in any public, residential or private school, who have achieved 50 percent marks in a previous qualifying examination and whose parents’ income does not exceed Rs 1 lakh per year.
Another is the Begum Hazrat Mahal National Scholarship for meritorious female students from minority community in classes 9 to 12 who have obtained 50 per cent marks in the previous qualifying examination and their parents’ income does not exceed Rs 2 lakh per year.
Other schemes include the Post-Secondary Scholarship Program for Minorities and the Vice President Merit Scholarship for CS Professional and Technical Courses.
More than 80,000 scholarships are awarded each year to provide financial assistance to outstanding students from low-income families to cover part of their daily expenses while pursuing graduate/postgraduate studies in colleges, universities and professional courses, such as medicine and engineering.
Students pursuing diploma courses are not eligible under the Central Sector Scholarship Scheme for College and University Students. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of matriculation examination results.
