Auburn, California Chapa-De Indian Health is pleased to announce that the April Moore Memorial Scholarship is now accepting applications for the 2022-2023 academic year. The annual $1,000 scholarship is presented in recognition of longtime Chapa-De Chairman April Moore. Moore has dedicated her life to developing the American Indian people and served on the Chapa Dei Board of Directors for 26 years. The scholarship is open to American Indian students who are currently attending or planning to attend a technical, trade or vocational college or school. Applicants must be in or from Placer, Nevada, Sierra, Sacramento, and El Dorado counties in California.
“Chapa-De Indian Health is proud to offer the April Moore Memorial Scholarship for the month of April,” said Lisa Davis, CEO of Chapa-De Indian Health. “We honor April Moore’s legacy by continuing to support the education and progress of the American Indian people in our community.”
Scholarship applications are due by February 28, 2022. Applications are reviewed by the Chapa-De Board of Directors each year. Winners are announced in May 2022. The Chapa-De Board of Directors selects a new recipient each spring, and applicants are encouraged to reapply for each year they meet qualifications.
To qualify, applicants must;
- Have a GPA of at least 3.0
- Be an American Indian/Alaska Native; For the purpose of this scholarship, this is defined as being eligible for services in Indian Health Services (IHS) clinics.
- Planning to pursue an apprenticeship or a college degree
- Attend a school in Placer, Nevada, Sierra, Sacramento, or El Dorado counties
- Submit all required application materials by February 28y
