Mahaska Chamber & Development Group is pleased to announce that scholarships will be available again through the Classroom Programme, which is now in its 26th year. Through a partnership with Grant 52577, any contributions to the program are tax-free and can be made in any amount. If one chooses to donate the $1,000, it will be awarded this year. If one wants to contribute to the Permanent Grant Fund through “52577”, any amount can be donated for use in future years.
High school seniors who live in Mahaska County and attend any high school are eligible to apply. Information is available from the school advisor or the web at https://www.mahaskachamber.org/resources/scholarships/ where you will find a link to the fillable form. Scholarships are sponsored by companies and industries in the region. Last year $21,000 was distributed to 20 students.
The application asks for information such as participation in school and community activities, as well as a short essay. Be prepared with a pdf file of your text. Online applications and school transcripts are due no later than Friday, April 1, 2022.
Companies and individuals are encouraged to contribute to the scholarship fund as well. Our giving remains constant, but we encourage more giving. It is important to support our young people and make it easier for them to attend university.” “Maybe you can contribute financially to the fund, or maybe take part in the annual Chamber Golf outing scheduled for Friday, May 13. A golf outing raises additional money for scholarships.”
For more information to apply or contribute to the fund, contact the Mahaska Chamber at 641.672.2591 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
